Celebrating 104th International Women Day

Solidarity on the rally organized by National Women Commission to raise voice of women right

Rally was organized by National Women Commission on 8th March, 2014 and FIAN Nepal showed solidarity by participating in the Rally. On the Rally treasurer Mr. Jhabendra Prakash Bhattarai, Office staffs Rajendra Rai, Menuka Basnet and Prakash Kainee represented FIAN Nepal. Along with them 10 volunteers from Nepalese Law Student Association (Nelsa) participated in the rally. FIAN Nepal distributed 100 caps to participants.

National slogan for the day was “Lets’ be together for Women leadership: From home to Constituent Assembly” and international slogan was “Equality for women: Progress for All”. Along with these slogans participants from FIAN Nepal carry play cards illustrating right to food and women rights. Along with FIAN Nepal other organizations like Ministry of Women, Children and Welfare, Nepal Disable Women Organization, Nepal Army, Police etc. participated the rally. Rally was started on 8:15 am from Bhrikuti Mandap and was turned to assembly at Basantapur on 10:45 am. At the end of Rally a street drama about violence against women was showed which was supported by Care Nepal. Secretary of Ministry of Women and Children welfare mentioned that to eradicate violence against women, women have to initiate and government also should be seriously concerned
