32nd World Food Day was observed

World Food Day (WFD) was observed with different activities in Kathmandu on 13-15 October 2012. A workshop to release the findings on small holder farmers’ research was organized on 13 October at Staff College. The workshop was organized by National Farmers’ Groups Federation with the support from FIAN Nepal.

Following the programme, another workshop was organized on Agriculture Development Strategies (ADS) on 14 October. The workshop was organized by Right to Food National Network in association with FIAN Nepal, National Coalition for Food Security and Water (NCFAW) and Lutheran World Federation (LWF) with the aim to orient small holder farmers about ADS and to discuss to improvise ADS for real farmers’ benefit.

At the last day, a rally from Bhrikutimandap to Ratnapark was organized. More than 400 farmers from different districts participated in the rally with their banner and placards. Similarly, other organizations also joined their hands to express their solidarity for right to food. At the end of the rally, different persons expressed their views demanding to ensure people’s right to food and food sovereignty in the constitution with the government.
