Position: Field Officer

Position based in: Bajura & Dhanusha

Reporting to: Province  Coordinator

Period: Three Year (extended upon successful completion six months of probation period)

Responsibilities and deliverables:

  1. Case documentation and caseworks:
  • Identification, planning/organising/facilitating – working closely with communities through regular interactions,
  • Assessment, analysis and strategising /planning of actions and progress based on reflections,
  • Maintaining updated records of the case progress,
  • Report writing of events/ activities carried out in the field/ district,
  • Coordination /consultation with respective supervisors (Program Officers) in case accompanying the cases to a logical conclusion – towards reduced RtF violations and/or strengthened the RtF basis of communities.
  1. Close consultation and coordination with stakeholders in the district including facilitating the Palika/ District Right to Food Network and its members for promotion and advocacy /support the RtF cases of vulnerable communities.
  2. Mapping and monitoring / follow-up of RtF violations /issues, vulnerable groups, updating the record and reporting,
  3. Organising and facilitation / support project activities – mainly – including trainings, workshops and meetings and other advocacy related activities
  4. Maintain /support in basic administration/accounts of district office based activities including documentation/publications and dissemination
  5. Representation and communication activities at district level and others as appropriate for programme and FIAN as organization.
  6. Other related assignments e.g. contribute in studies related to RtF issues/cases

With programme it primarily includes:

  • Casework / documentation – strengthening capacity of selected communities for organising their struggle for RtF
  • Strategise and support in the Advocacy of cases and issues – at national level and as appropriate at international level
  • Coordination, with key stakeholders, facilitation and explore collaborations for cases /issues raised
  • Organise/facilitate trainings/workshops – including discussions on policy discussions
  • Monitoring of RtF violations and updating on related issues/policies etc and contribute to reporting at national /international level.
  • Contribute towards enhancing quality of methodology/process of caseworks
  • Analysis and write-ups of cases and activity reports and the progress report

All staff members to support /work towards developing and maintaining a healthy learning and working environment in FIAN Nepal.

Specific qualifications and job competencies

Specific qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in any discipline with at least three years working experience in area of Right based development, Human Rights, advocacy and journalism

Job competencies

  • Knowledge on Human Rights specially on ESCR
  • Good communication skill with the community people.
  • Good skill in coordination and networking with the stakeholders(GOs, I/NGO and CBOs)
  • Be able to work in adverse conditions (such as geographical, cultural and off hours)
  • Be able to make frequent travels to the communities
  • Basic computer skill
  • Very good documentation skill (preparing reports, cases and other documents) in Nepali and English
  • Have a learning attitude
