Our Journey

Since its establishment, FIAN Nepal has been dedicated to advancing the right to food and supporting vulnerable and landless communities in Nepal. The organization works in close collaboration with the Government of Nepal and other stakeholders through advocacy, delegation, and evidence-based claims to ensure the realization of the right to food for all citizens.

From 2010 to 2024, the organization implemented five consecutive phases of the project “Facilitating a Process towards Strengthening the Human Right to Food in Nepal.” This initiative covered 12 districts across Bagmati, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim Provinces, including Kathmandu, Dhading, Chitwan, Makwanpur, Dang, Banke, Surkhet, Dailekh, Kailali, Kanchanpur, Bajura, and Bajhang.

Building on this foundation, FIAN Nepal is currently implementing the project “Promoting the Right to Food and Food Sovereignty through Community-Led Agroecological Practices” (1 July 2024 – 30 June 2027). And NOREC Exchange Project in partnership with FIAN Zambia, supported by the Norwegian Agency for Exchange Cooperation (NOREC).

These initiatives have been made possible through close collaboration with all three levels of the Government of Nepal and partnerships with Bread for the World (BfdW), Misereor, and NOREC, helping to strengthen community capacity and advance the human right to food in Nepal
